ITS TIME TO SMASH THE HUNT
ABOUT CORNWALL HUNT SABOTEURS

For more than fifteen years in Cornwall, there have been dedicated people in the killing fields where people murder OUR innocent wildlife. These people are known as Hunt Saboteurs. They use tactics which do not harm any animal including the hunt's hounds and horses. They have suffered attacks and violence from people who think it is acceptable to murder wildlife. They have had their windscreens smashed twice, tyres slashed on numerous occasions, and have suffered physical attacks from these so called 'educated' people. Attacks have been commited from Grandmothers to fifteen year old saboteurs. These people dont mind who or what they hurt, as long as they get pleasure out of it.

Every person who goes out sabbing in Cornwall are unpaid, and do so out of their own free will for the simple reason that they do not like the thought of a pack of hounds chasing a wild animal to exhausgen and then ripping it open in the name of sport. All saboteurs avoid confrontation to the hunt at all times, except matters of self defence. Cornwall Hunt Saboteurs are a completly peaceful and lawful group, and always have been. All of the people who sab hunts in Cornwall have not got a criminal record through sabbing in Cornwall. Many saboteurs have of course been arrested for being with the hunt; but none have no convictions. This proves the point; A sab was arrested while observing the Western Hunt. She was on a public footpath, and arrested for 'breach of the peace'. The Police drove her through the hunt riders and support, who were cheering and shouting; causing the saboteur much distress. The Police were proved to have wrongfully arrested the saboteur, and she was awarded £3,500 compensation. All of this money was given to animal rights groups across the country, including £500 to Cornwall Hunt Saboteurs.

On top of making sure the hunt does not kill wildlife, saboteurs monitor the hunts every move, to make sure they do not break the law. Here are some events witnessed by saboteurs, which have been reported to the appropriate authorities;

- South Cornwall Hunt trespassed on to land belonging to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust in March 2002 at Redmoor, near Lostwithiel, in pursuit of a fox (which later got away, thanks to the saboteur).

- The Four Burrow Hunt including hunt support vehicles, trespassed on to the South West Water Works site near Redruth in March 2002.

- On a different day in March 2002, hounds belonging to the Four Burrow Hunt strayed on a scent of a fox on to a Primary School at St Merryn.

- The Western Hunts' foxhounds killed a simease cat near Penzance.

- The North Cornwall Huntsman and Hounds trespassed twice in three years on to land of an anti hunt campaigner, who was forced to fire shots in to the air when hounds chased her sheep of which were about to drop their lambs, at Boscastle in February 2002.

- The East Cornwall Foxhounds chased a deer at Trenant, near Liskeard in March 2002.

- On the same day, supporters watching the East Cornwall Hunt blocked the road with their vehicles.

- The Cury and Western Hunt had a joint meet at Traboe Cross in March 2002. The whole hunt, hounds and riders, went in to a field where sheep may have been ready to drop their lambs. The sheep were left terrified.

These are just a few of many incidents which have caused havoc to members of the public. This is partly the reason why people want hunting banned. Of course we cant be with every hunt when they go out, so many incidents get unreported!

Every year, thousands of animals are killed in the name of sport in this country. You can help stop this appalling slaughter. Cornwall Hunt Saboteurs take action where it counts in the killing fields using non-violent direct action tactics to save the lives of hundreds of hunted animals every season.

From using hunting horns and voice calls to run off with the hounds at foxhunts, to standing in front of the shooting butts on the grouse moors, to wading through the rivers at minkhunts, wherever animals are being hunted for fun, Cornwall hunt saboteurs will be there, protecting our wildlife from the "sportsmen" who get their kicks from killing. The overwhelming majority of the British public recognise bloodsports are cruel and abbhorrent and over 80% want an immediate ban on bloodsports.

Unfortunately, the powerful minority who prop up the bloodsports establishment and the vested interests who dominate parliament have seen to it that time and again efforts to achieve a ban have been scuppered by dirty tricks, frustrating democracy. Promises of action "sometime", "maybe", "when the time is right", "in a few years" from politicians after votes are of no use to a fox that will be hunted tomorrow for several miles over a two-hour period, then cornered and ripped apart by up to forty hounds. That's why the animals need people like you - people who care enough to do something positive to save them.

There are over 140 local hunt saboteur groups all over the UK (Cornwall Hunt Sabs are one of these), all of which are active at least once a week against their local hunts and shoots. All hunt saboteur groups need volunteers to work either as activists in the field, saving the hunted animals' lives directly, or to do the vital background work of fundraising, leafleting, etc. Without which no group can function. There will be a hunt saboteur group near you and whatever your age, skills or experience, you will be able to make a crucial contribution to saving animals' lives.
This weekend, there will be someone trying to torture and kill innocent wild animals for sport within a few miles of where you live. We're going to be there to stop them. Will you?
